Biscuit Basin's Unique Geology

Located just 5 km north of Old Faithful, Biscuit Basin is a geothermal wonderland known for its unusual biscuit-like deposits that once surrounded Sapphire Pool. These deposits, now eroded away, gave the basin its intriguing name.

Easy Hiking Adventure

The Biscuit Basin Trail is an easy 0.8-km loop trail that circles some of Yellowstone's most vibrant hot springs. The trailhead begins a short distance down the Mystic Falls Trail, making it accessible to hikers of all levels.

Sapphire Pool and More

The trail leads past Deep Blue Hot Springs, showcasing Yellowstone's stunning blue hues. You'll also have the opportunity to admire Sapphire Pool, a hot spring with a dazzling blue color.

Scenic Overlook

At the top of the hill, you'll reach a breathtaking overlook of the entire Biscuit Basin area. From here, you can gaze back toward the Upper Geyser Basin, marveling at the vast geothermal landscape that Yellowstone is renowned for.
